European Health Interview Survey 2014
EHIS 2014 was the second wave of the European Health Interview Survey, which took place between 2013 and 2015 in all EU Member States, Iceland and Norway, according to the Commission Regulation (EU) No 141/2013 of 19 February 2013 implementing Regulation (EC) No 1338/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council on Community statistics on public health and health and safety at work, as regards statistics based on the European Health Interview Survey (EHIS). This regulation stipulated that the reference year should be 2013, 2014 or 2015, contained the list of requested variables and defined the final sample sizes to be achieved (6,510 persons aged 15 or over to be interviewed in the Czech Republic). The regulation did not involve a standardised questionnaire, but a model questionnaire was involved in the European Health Interview Survey Manual.
Due to the fact that EHIS 2 was already the second wave of the European Health Interview Survey, it was possible to use experience obtained in the first wave. Experience from 2008 by individual countries had been evaluated in detail; conclusions from these analyses led mainly to a shorter questionnaire and to changes in some concepts of questioning tools for the second wave of EHIS.
In the Czech Republic, EHIS was followed by a study called EHES (European Health Examination Survey), which invited respondents aged 25–64 years to attend a medical check-up. This follow-up study was organised by the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH).
